A Visit to Rembau

Went to Rembau, Negeri Sembilan with my coursemates to do some research on Adat Perpatih. These are some pictures taken during the short trip. Adat Perpatih is a tradition practiced by Minangkabau Malay where female right is more emphasized. In this community, family's property is fully divided among daughters. If the family has no daughter, the property will be passed to female cousins or aunts. Son has no right to keep any family property. What a pity for them.

The Firecracker

Chinese believe the explosion of firecrackers would chase away the bad luck. Playing firecrackers might be dangerous but what to do when it has been imparted as Chinese New Year tradition.

The Red Lanterns

Chinese New Year (CNY) is about RED colour. Chinese loves red very much as it brings good luck and prosperity. During CNY, they will buy some red lanterns to decorate their home to welcome new year. In modern days, electronic LED lanterns are so popular that have replaced those traditional lanterns which are lightened up using candles. Besides that, modern lanterns also come in varieties of shapes to suit customers' taste. With that, I would like take this opportunity to wish all Chinese around the world a very Happy Chinese New Year.

Egret

Went to Bird Park again and this time around hoping to get a few nice shot since the previous visit doesn't satisfy me. This time around, I would be more careful when shooting bird as I won't freak them out. Here, I am sharing some photos of egret. Egret in malay called Bangau. It is a very common bird with white feather, thus it also know as snowy egret.

For All the Little Things

We have spent our life together
We would not have it
Any other way

I am glad you are always near
It comforts me
More than I can say

You hold me close
If I am sad
You warm my heart
When you hold my hand

For all the little things
You always do for me
They count more than you know
I am glad that you love me

MotoGP 2010 Sepang

Went to Sepang International Circuit (SIC) with my photography friend Jenad to take some motor sport photos. Taking these kind of pictures is a big challenge for me as I never own a proper camera gadget to capture fast moving objects. This is a test drive session so it is free of charge. Of course I am taking the most expensive corner seat usually cost RM900++ on the actual event. Everything is fine but not to the engine sound which irritate me a lot.

Thaipusam 2010

I have to wake up as early as 5am to prepare myself for Thaipusam. This is my first experience attending such occasion. Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai. The festival commemorate both the birthday of Murugan, the youngest son of god Shiva and his wife Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel or spear so that he could vanquish the evil demon. Therefore, you can see some devotees have their mouth pierced with vel. Religious praying and dancing (Kavadi) is everywhere during the event. Devotees will carry a pot of milk as an offering to their god Murugan inside the Batu Cave.
